As always the food and service does not disappoint. I was glad to hear Korean R&B music . The ambiance is always energized with people happy to eat. Our waiter Nicholas was wonderful and tentative. The staff was courtly also. I am getting a bit confuse about the hours. Since when you started the restaurant you said you will be open till 4am on the weekends. One time we came to eat after the movies and was told it was closed. The hours on every internet platform should be updated. But of course this time we were able to enjoy our favorite after the movies restaurants.
Although Gen started off really strong, the quality of service has been rapidly declining while their prices continue to climb. The main issue is that they need to hire more staff. Can't get people? Pay them more! There has been more than one occasion when I have gone at lunch and more than half seating is closed off because they only have one server and one host. Waiting close to an hour for seating when more half the restaurant is available, is really disheartening to see. The food is still good, and they have a premium menu for an additional fee, but it isn't worth the extra $20 per person for what you get in my opinion. Lunch is also now close to $30 per person with dinner close to $40, which no longer makes Gen the cheaper option over other AYCE KBBQ places in K-Town and Flushing. Will I still go here? Probably, but it is definitely no longer on my regular rotation of restaurants.
For table at this place we succeeded on our third trip- which was so worth it! so they dont take reservations and you have to be there to enter yourself to waitlist-then it depends on waitlist how long you wait- We finally succeeded on a sunday night after like 20ish minute wait to get a table which is not bad at all compared to any other busy time. Its all you can eat but they take your order in break downs of 4 meats and 1 apetizer each time- It is such good food for excellent price. Loved the whole cooking your own meat experience. Service is very good and ambiance is great. A MUST try in city for the price.
This is some of the best Korean bbq I've ever had. I was recommended this place by my sister and it did not disappoint at all. I see why it was full when we walked in. When you get in the restaurant itself, it looks really nice with the silver and blue color scheme and extremely clean despite it being really busy. Next the service we got was amazing as well, the servers come around often and make everything as easy and smooth as possible. The food itself was really good for the price for all you can eat as well. The Hawaiian steak and the ribs were my favorite and definitely must trys. I'm not a fan of soju but the soju mixed drinks they had were perfect and had me reevaluating my relationship with soju. We will definitely be coming back.
Every time I call me out I have so much fun!! They serve drinks in these pouches that definitely have a kick to them. My ultimate favorite to start off with and then the endless meat is an absolute bargain. They serve so many different cuts of meat all great quality.!! Definitely recommend this place
